Having met on the tennis courts a few years ago, the pair have combined their love of wine with a vision for a relaxed oasis for locals and visitors alike.
Santi and Alistair were instantly drawn to PWSW for its inviting, child-free environment- perfect for unwinding with a glass of Central Otago wine after a day outdoors. They share an enthusiasm for exploring the region’s renowned vintages and discovering local spirits, like Bluff Gin and the diverse whiskeys emerging from New Zealand’s South Island. As they put their stamp on this beloved establishment, they aim to take the experience to the next level, while preserving the core spirit that has attracted wine enthusiasts for years.
Living in Wanaka, a place that embodies community and adventure, aligns perfectly with their family lifestyle. With a blended family of six children and two dogs, they cherish the small-town vibe and seasonal beauty that inspires their outdoor pursuits, whether skiing in winter or hiking in summer.
While the pair introduces fresh ideas to PWSW- like showcasing a selection of boutique wines and freshening up the cozy space- some things remain unchanged. The beloved wine tastings that have become a staple of the bottle shop continue every Friday from 5 to 7 PM, featuring selections from wineries they admire. Plus, they’re excited to welcome guests into their newly added private room with no minimum spend, encouraging more opportunities for intimate gatherings and tastings.
